Description

MUPIHEM Ointment is used for:

• Treatment of certain bacterial skin infections
• Localized bacterial infections of the skin
• Impetigo and other susceptible superficial skin infections
• Infected minor cuts, wounds, or abrasions, when prescribed
• Prevention of bacterial infection in susceptible skin lesions, as advised

How It Works

Mupirocin 2% is a topical antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by blocking an essential bacterial enzyme. This prevents the growth of susceptible bacteria and helps control the skin infection.

Dosage

• Apply only as directed by the physician.
• Clean and dry the affected area before application.
• Apply a small amount as a thin layer to the affected area.
• Wash hands before and after application unless the hands are being treated.
• Complete the prescribed course even if symptoms improve earlier.

Note

• For external use only.
• Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, and other mucous membranes.
• Do not apply inside the nose unless specifically prescribed as a nasal formulation.
• Avoid prolonged or unnecessary use to reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance.
• Stop use and consult a doctor if severe irritation, rash, or allergic reaction occurs.
• Consult a physician if the infection worsens or does not improve after the prescribed treatment.
• Keep out of reach of children and store in a cool, dry place.
